Job description 

  • Responsible for maximizing the accuracy and speed of the company’s quality inspections
  •  Inspect the quality of gemstones consigned for purchase
  •  Verify the type of gemstones received and detectable treatments
  •  Supervise and lead a team of quality inspectors
  •  Correspond directly with customer’s gemstone department about quality standards, orders, etc

Laurelton Gems (Thailand) Ltd. inspects and purchases melee gemstones and freshwater pearls for an international jewelry manufacturer and retailer.
  •  AG or other formal gemological degree is required 
  •  English speaking, reading, and writing abilities are required 
  •  Must be skilled in grading gemstone quality 
  •  Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred 
  •  Management experience is preferred 
  •  Thai national

- Uses standard, high tech, and specialty gem testing equipment to examine and identify gem materials.

- A bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or University or higher education in Gemology, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Sciences or related areas / equivalent combination of education and experience.  

- Determines natural or synthetic materials and identifies any treatment/enhancement.

- Inputs ID information and assigns a preliminary conclusion to a grading report.

- Keeps abreast of current gemological information in the industry.

- Strongly encouraged to write articles / present material for AIGS.

- Thai Nationality.

- Male or female (not over the years of 35).  

- Good command of English is preferable.

- Detail-minded with good concentration skills.

- Self motivation and disciplined.

- Hard working, and willing to do additional hours for training when required.
